We’re delighted to announce the latest addition to the Kayo Digital team - Introducing our new Web Developer, Simon Arter.
Simon joined us on 7th May having previously worked in the development team at Kick Interactive in Maidstone.
Now Simon's been with us for a week or so, I figured it would be a good time to ask him a few questions to help us get to know him a bit better;
What are your areas of expertise?
I am most comfortable when working with PHP and its associated frameworks, such as Magento, WordPress and Symfony, especially in a Linux environment.
What are going to be your key focuses in your new role?
I will be focussing predominantly on building sustainable projects and making these projects work for the client, not the other way around.
I’m also looking forward to expanding my knowledge in areas of DevOps and other languages/frameworks, especially getting to grips with Kayo Digital's Rocket platform which I'm very excited about working with.
Which projects or clients are you particularly looking forward to working on/with?
I’m very interested in getting stuck into programme we’re working on with the Berry Group and also with some further ERP integration projects.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Music, lots of music. This has turned into a vinyl addiction and now has me planning short trips just to see bands in other cities around the world. I'm also looking to get back into playing hockey and possibly cricket.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I used to be in a hardcore punk band as a bassist!
What was the last book you read?
The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressel but currently reading Dune by Frank Herbert
